WENN DIE SEELE WACKELT

A dance performance about compulsion neuroses

In the beginning of this dance piece we are introduced to a perfect world. Everything is in line, accurately balanced and synchronised. The order of things, the logic of events, the rules of the number conveys a sense of security. Everything can be measured and counted, no hidden surprises. But when the system is upset, the human beings lose their balance.

With help of ritualised actions and the constant repetition of fixed motion patterns they desperately try to re-establish order – a principle that in a perverted form constitutes the basic of compulsion neuroses.

MS Schrittmacher on their way into choreographic chaos, hot on the tragic-comic trail of the driven human soul.

Premiere 1. Oktober 2000 at DOCK 11 Berlin.

 IN THE MEDIA

“The play is a hybrid of dance, geometry and matter. The rigid, geometrical images are highly effective and the choreographer discovers beautiful forms of movement and formations.” (Neues Deutschland)
