QUO VADIS, BELLUM?

QUO VADIS, BELLUM?  – a two-years research project in cooperation with the Saarländisches Staatstheater

Hundred years past the primal catastrophe we are looking into the future of war in the form of the two-years research- and site specific project Quo vadis, bellum?. At public forums the artists, supported by experts of the social movements as well as journalists, are going to discuss and analyse the current world affairs, their causes and perspectives. During the whole phase of research in 2016 these discussions will be accessible and can be complemented by everyone on the project’s homepage.

How does the grimace of war look at us, if we think of the current state a hundred years ahead? How will the economic and political powers look like in the distant future? And to what kind of armed conflicts could they lead us? And finally: What options for action will result from those future scenarios for us today?

Based on the insights of their research MS Schrittmacher developed a storyboard for a science-fiction site-specific-performance that pictures the future face of war in a hundred years. It is a worst-case-scenario presenting missed chances as well as the absurdity and futility of war. Individual showings and public rehearsals additionally open the process of rehearsing to the general public. Quo vadis, bellum? focuses on social exchange and the wealth of ideas and therewith peruses new, transparent paths in the terms of play development and research work.
